Normal Delivery Hospital in East Delhi

Most healthy pregnancies can end in a safe normal (vaginal) delivery with good antenatal care and an experienced team. At Sankhwar Hospital, Kondli – near Mayur Vihar Phase 3, East Delhi – Dr. Shalini Sankhwar has over 22 years of experience in supporting mothers towards a safe normal delivery, and recommends a cesarean only when it is truly needed for mother or baby.

  • Birth planning and counselling so you know what to expect in labour

How to Improve Your Chances of a Normal Delivery

  • Attend every antenatal visit and complete recommended tests
  • Stay active – walking and pregnancy-safe exercises unless advised otherwise
  • Keep weight gain within the range your doctor suggests
  • Control blood sugar and blood pressure if you have diabetes or hypertension
  • Learn breathing and relaxation techniques for labour
  • Come to hospital on time when labour starts or your water breaks

When Might a Cesarean Be Advised?

Even with the best planning, a cesarean may sometimes be safer – for example if the baby is in breech position, the placenta is low-lying, labour does not progress, or the baby shows signs of distress. Dr. Shalini Sankhwar will explain the reasons clearly and involve you in the decision. Read more about cesarean delivery.

High-Risk Pregnancy Care

If you have a history of previous cesarean, miscarriage, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disease, twins or other complications, you need closer monitoring. Dr. Shalini Sankhwar is experienced in managing high-risk pregnancies and, where safe, can also discuss a trial of normal delivery after a previous cesarean (VBAC).

After Delivery

We support you with post-partum care, breastfeeding guidance, stitches care, baby’s early check-up advice and family planning options such as Copper-T.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a normal delivery after a previous cesarean?

In selected cases, yes. A trial of labour after cesarean (VBAC) depends on the reason for the earlier cesarean, the type of uterine scar, the gap between pregnancies and the current pregnancy. It must be planned in a hospital with emergency cesarean facilities.

When should I go to hospital for delivery?

Come to hospital when you have regular painful contractions, leaking of water, bleeding, reduced baby movements or any severe pain or headache. Call +91 97167 66666 in an emergency.

How many antenatal visits are needed?

Usually once a month until 28 weeks, every two weeks until 36 weeks and weekly after that – more often in high-risk pregnancies.
